Grand Theft Auto VI is being developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, but questions have been raised about how well it will perform on the less powerful Xbox Series S. Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick isn’t worried, stating that the company is skilled at optimizing games for various platforms and focuses on supporting those with a significant audience.
During a recent earnings call, Zelnick addressed concerns about the Series S’s lower specs, reassuring that Take-Two is committed to making the game work effectively. He also highlighted the growing importance of PC gaming for the company, hinting that a PC version of GTA VI might happen, though it could launch later than the console versions—similar to previous Rockstar games like GTA V and Red Dead Redemption II.
The Series S’s technical limitations have caused debate among developers, with some suggesting that supporting it can hold back game development, as seen with delays in games like Baldur’s Gate 3. Despite this, Microsoft expects the Series S to outsell the Series X by the end of the generation due to its affordability, although the Series X currently leads in sales.
Take-Two has confirmed that GTA VI is on track for release in Fall 2025, setting high expectations for what is anticipated to be a groundbreaking title.
