Grand Theft Auto 5 has now surpassed an astonishing 210 million copies sold, as announced by publisher Take-Two in its latest financial report.
This milestone means Rockstar’s hugely popular title moved an additional 5 million copies in the final three months of 2024, up until December 31st.
Red Dead Redemption 2 also saw a sales boost, now reaching 70 million copies—an increase of 3 million from the previous quarter. While this figure is remarkable in its own right, few games can rival the immense success of GTA 5.

GTA Online continues to receive fresh content, with the December 2024 Agents of Sabotage update keeping engagement high. Despite its age, the multiplayer component remains one of Take-Two’s most lucrative assets.
This year marks GTA V’s 12th anniversary since its original release in September 2013 on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Meanwhile, Red Dead Redemption 2 will turn seven in October—coinciding with Take-Two’s reaffirmed launch window for GTA 6, which is set to arrive sometime this autumn.
When asked about the possibility of delays, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick told IGN:
“There’s always a risk of slippage, and I think as soon as you say words like ‘absolutely,’ you jinx things. We feel really good about it.”
It’s shaping up to be a major year for Take-Two, with Sid Meier’s Civilization 7 launching on February 11th, Mafia: The Old Country arriving in the summer, GTA VI in the fall, and Borderlands 4 expected before the year’s end.
